HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016!

WOW!  2016....I never imagined, did you?!?  I was convinced, by whom I don't know, that the world was going to end in 2000.  So glad that it didn't although hanging with Jesus in heaven I'm sure will be very cool, for lack of a better word!

Anyway, a quick post as we are leaving for a party that is just 10 minutes away with some college friends and their families!  I haven't scrapped in months but I like what I've created!

My inspiration came from Soul Scrappers challenge blog.  You are to use the lyrics or title or a few words from Guns & Roses song "Sweet Child O' Mine"...a favorite of mine back in the day (wow that made me sound old!).  My title "her face" are words from the song.

And the song lyrics:

GUNS N' ROSES LYRICS

"Sweet Child O' Mine"
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky

Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stared too long
I'd probably break down and cry

Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain

Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain
To quietly pass me by

[3x]
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine

[4x]
Where do we go?
Where do we go now?
Where do we go?
Sweet child o' mine

Merry Christmas!!

Hello my scrappy friends!  My goodness, I haven't posted in a long time.  I haven't created anything in a while except for some Christmas cards.  My poor grandma who just turned 97 this past Wednesday didn't even get a birthday card!  Shame on me!  I miss creating but I've been working a full time job and it's just kicking my butt.  It may be coming to an end soon...I'm not sure if it should or not.  It's a heavy decision that has been weighing on me and soon I need to make a decision.    When I'm not working or wrapping Christmas gifts, I'm praying for guidance!

Ok, enough of my problems!  Here is an example of the Christmas cards I sent out this year.  I'm entering this into the blog Fun Cut Creations by Jen.  Her challenge for the month of December is to use the theme of Christmas using Stampin' Up products!  I used the stamp/thinlet set from SU!  called Wondrous Wreath.  It appeared in the catalog last year and I'm just using it this year...it was difficult for me to line up the stamps and thinlets.  Not sure why!

A pretty simple card, love the stamped sentiment from CTMH set Glory to God that I've had for a few years.

Thanks for stopping by!  This challenge from Fun Cut Creations by Jen runs until the end of the month.  Give it a try!

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Thank you for taking some time out of your day to take a peek at my creations.

Easy Sunday afternoon

Hello my scrappy friends!  Just a quick post today.  Laundry is being washed, I'm scrapping, hubby is watching TV, son is playing video games and daughter is visiting all of us in between cleaning her room.  A nice easy Sunday afternoon!

My daughter is going to a party tomorrow night for her girlfriend's 11th birthday.  I made a quick card with stamping and heat embossing.

Although this card is for a girl she's not a girly girl, hence the darker colors.  I was inspired by the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog, challenge #34, Steampunk.  The stamps I used are called Steampunk Gears by Stampendous.  The circle stamps on the green banner are from CTMH.  The colors are inspired by Scrapping Everyday Miracles Birthday Bash Challenge #5 Color Inspiration.  The colors are black, white, blue, green, and brown.  Lastly, I love using layers and although there aren't too many on this card, I was inspired by Turtle Soup's challenge from 9/15, Tools, Tips and Techniques.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments!
Enjoy your Sunday~

September Birthday

Hello again my scrappy friends!

I just finished a birthday card for my brother-in-law.  I tried a new technique for me, masking and layered stamps.  I'm happy with how the card turned out but I know I need to practice more.  I used retired stamps from Stampin' Up for the trees.  It feels weird to make an autumn card when it's still shorts and pool weather! Next year I'll make more of a summer feel card.

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:
> AAA cards, #48 autumn color with a twist of fabric (I used ribbon)
> Connie Can Crop, #38 color challenge
> Paper Pals Arts, color challenge

Thanks for your comments!

Oh POOP!

Hello my scrappy friends!  I've made some cards this weekend, pretty much ignoring my family.  But I did have permission from hubby and the kids!  Right now, they are playing some creative Lego game and laughing up a storm.  I do miss playing with them but I'll catch them later today or the next time a game is pulled out.

My sister will be 39 this week so, of course, I had to make a sarcastic card!  I found a card image online that was perfect when I searched "turning39".  I know she will laugh when she receives this :)  I chose to use the cleaner "poop" word for the title since my kids are around!

I used the Cricut Don Juan cartridge for the letters/numbers and a stamp from my stash for the happy birthday.  Various scraps of paper and ribbon were used to make this card.

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:
> Hiding in my Craft Room
> Always Playing with Paper

Messy birthday card

Hello my scrappy friends!  Hope everyone is enjoying Labor Day weekend!

I've gotten a little scrappy time this afternoon after food shopping and some cleaning earlier today.  My brother-in-law's birthday is next week, two days before his wife---my sister.  Her card will be made later today or later this week.

I've used a challenge sketch from Turtle Soup blog.  It's a fantastic sketch made by Bev Code.  You should really check out her blog.  I've used the open challenge and stamps from STAMPlorations - the happy birthday and color blocks -and from My Sentiments Exactly for the graphic background of lines and circles.

Here is my card, turned to a portrait rather then landscape outline.

Happy Day!

Happy Sunday my scrappy friends!  Just a few more days of summer vacation before school starts!  Are you ready?  We are almost there!  Just a few more labels to adhere to notebooks.

My niece is starting 1st grade on Wednesday so I made her a little card!  I used STAMPlorations stamps, Blossom Overture, Happy, and Mixed Media Grunge.

I used the Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge for that adorable cloud and rainbow!  Various inks were used including Tim Holtz distressed, Colorbox and Close to my Heart as well as paper scraps from my stash.

I'll be entering this card into the STAMPlorations CASE challenge where I used Shirley's card as my inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Sunday!!

New home

Happy Sunday my scrappy friends!

Someone I know is moving so I made her and her son, who happens to be a friend of my son's, a little pineapple card.  Pineapples are a sign of welcoming, warmth and friendliness...so this is where I grabbed my inspiration.

Using the My World cricut cartridge, I cut a pineapple for the cover of my card and a smaller one for the inside (no photo, sorry!).   I used stamps and stencils from STAMPlorations, bold sentiments: Journey and mixed media grunge and stencil confetti circles.

I'll be entering this card into the following challenges:
STAMPlorations August Theme and Sketch
Bitten by the Bug 2 - The Fruits of Summer
Cut It Up: Old School - the paper I used for the circles is at least 5 years old!
Scrapping4Fun - #49 using name brand paper - I used K & company and DCWV

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments!

6th birthday cupcake

Hello my scrappy friends!  Quick post today...off to visit family for a week!

My niece is turning 6 at the end of August so I made her a card sooner rather then later.  I know August will be filled with my son's 13 birthday, school clothes shopping, school supplies shopping, last minute movies, play dates, bowling, golfing activities.

I used a challenge from Turtle Soup Birthday Bash Crop #22 Cupcake.  I used Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge for the cupcake and loose papers from my stash for the banner, flower and embossing background.  I used stickles on the round bits on the cupcake top and the flame on the number 6.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Childhood living

Hello my scrappy friends!  Today was the last day of VBS where both of my kids and I were crew leaders!  First year for my daughter, second year for my son and third year for me!  It was a great week, only one day was unbearably hot and humid, just a few photos were taken, but we had lots of fun and laughs...always good memories!

Before VBS started or perhaps the first day, I was able to scrap a page or two.  Here is one that I just love of my kids playing in the yard last year.  I used a STAMPlorations stencil called Tribal Weave, spray inks, flowers and fiber from my stash, the REMEMBER THIS stamps from CTMH (true to life stamp set), Stone Script cricut cartridge for the title and Martha Stewart punches, geometric frames and garden trellis.

I'm entering this LO into the following challenges: STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday + July Mixed Media Challenge; Lasting Memories Layout Challenges #250 Use 3 different pps; Love To Scrap! Challenge #58-Anything Goes; HIMCR #208 Lots of Layers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sympathy

Hello my scrappy friends!  The kids, my son's friend and I and are off for some mini golf today...as the phone rings for my daughter.  Perhaps we'll have another golfer!

I made a quick card this morning, that should have been made last week, but the summer days are just passing us by!  A friend of my parents lost her mom, always a sad time in one's life.  Her dying words were wishes of wanting to see her girls...her two great granddaughters.  How sweet...

I CASE'd a card from STAMPlorations blog Inspiration Project Post #27.   I used the Blossom Overture stamps from STAMPlorations for the flowers and sentiment. Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet distressed ink was used for the background, the flowers stamped on top, and the vines are colored in slightly using colored pencils.  I tried something new with spray inks...I sprayed ink on a scrap piece of paper a few times then took my card, hoping I wouldn't mess it up in any way, and pressed it onto the ink.  I love the way it came out!

  I CASE'd Shirley's  sympathy card.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments!
Enjoy your summer days!

PS - we do indeed have another golfer!

Last Day of School!!!

Hello my scrappy friends!  Tomorrow is finally the last day of school for my children!  A half day no less!  I wish the board of education for our town would have taken away another day during our spring break, we had some snow days we had to make up that week anyway, so we wouldn't have to go back on a Monday!  Just yuck!

But, another school year is over so YAY for that!  Here is one of the cards I've made for a teacher. My kids get to choose what they want for their teachers.  Still need to make some more teacher and bus driver cards this afternoon.

I'm entering this card into three online challenges.

Cut It Up Stars and Stripes challenge.   My stars are from a stencil and my stripes on from the patterned paper.

Bitten by the Bug2 National Lobster Day.  The crab is cut from Life is a Beach Cricut cart and each line of the sentiment is from different stamp sets.

> STAMPlorations blog monthly challenge #35.  Here is the sketch....

My card.....

Thanks for looking and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there today!!

Let's go to the Rodeo!

Hello my scrappy friends!

Close to our home is the oldest weekly rodeo in the country!  We've been there a few times and it's such an enjoyable night out for the family.  I recently scrapped a few pictures I took on our first trip there in 2011.  My kids looked so young and small!

I'm entering this layout into...

Frosted Designs Splatter challenge.  I used blue and orange spray inks for splatters, blue ink for the circle stamps on the bottom of the page and blue/green ink for the circles on the right side of the LO.

Lasting Memories challenge #236 Travel Destination. They also provided the sketch as a twist...but I loved this twist since I loved the sketch!  I tried using a new template for the dangling circles.  Obviously the look isn't the same and I really don't like the way it turned out, but I tried something new.  I'll keep trying!

Hope you are enjoying the weekend!
Thanks for stopping by~

HAPPY EASTER!

Hello my scrappy friends and Happy Easter to you and your family!  We are going to my sisters for dinner, dessert and games on Sunday.  At I don't have to cook and clean :)  My grandma is 96 years old and doesn't come out for holidays any longer.  The days are just too long and tiring for her so I made her a card.  Of course, she won't get it until after Easter.  I've lost track of what day it is considering we've had off since Wednesday!  The kids and I have been quite busy...entertaining several friends, bathing suit and summer clothes shopping, food shopping, assembling a brand new patio set, entertaining more friends for my daughter with a sleep over that started at 7pm Thursday night and just ended....it's 5pm Friday night and my son's friend was here from 6am till 4pm!  I cleaned up as they played and ate!

My card for grandma.  I love the way it came out.  I was inspired by a two challenge blogs....

STAMPlorations' new challenge...CASEplorations.  Here is the card we are to lift or CASE this month...

Off the Rails Scrapbooking is a blog that is very new to me!  It's a wonderful challenge blog with such talented women on the DT.  This months challenge gives us two different mood boards to use in our creations.  I chose the second board using the colors white, black and green.

A quick birthday card

Hello my scrappy friends!  It's Friday night and I'm ready to veg out on the couch.  It's been a tough week and a half with my kids and husband being sick then I was sick...missed 4 days of school.  Went back today and that lunch room was LOUD!  But it was nice to have a few kids welcome me back and ask how I was feeling...impressive for first and second graders.

So, my quick birthday card for my brother-in-law.  I took on the card sketch challenge at STAMPlorations #29.  Here is my card using CTMH Dotty for You paper that I've had for well over one year and I just opened it!  Great papers, I'm sure to use some again this weekend when I'm creating something!  I also used spray inks from my collection and The Crafter's Workshop Circle Explosion 12x12 stencil.  It's VERY hard to see the circles since I sprayed ink over them but I assure you they are there!

Here is the sketch I used...

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments.  Have a wonderful weekend!

U R MY SUNSHINE

Welcome to daylight savings my scrappy friends!  So far so good with the hour time change...tomorrow I'm sure will be another story...at least for the rest of the family.  The time change never seems to bother me...could be since I'm really not a good sleeper to begin with.

Today I worked on a LO for my daughter during last summer.  Ahhh, warmer weather at the lake!

I got my inspiration from two challenges.  Soul Scrappers tic-tac-toe board using sticker-you are my sunshine-spray or paint.  I used spray on the title die cut letters.  The LO I pretty much lifted since I loved it so much from XoXo Scrapbooking March challenge....  As you can tell I didn't use doodling on the edges of the background paper nor did I use any banners or embellishments.  It was taking too much out of me to search for more supplies since I'm feeling so run down today.  My husband and kids are feeling better though so mission accomplished as wife and mother :)

Thanks for stopping by and go to bed early tonight so you're not so tired tomorrow!!

Hello my scrappy friends!

A quick layout I created today.  My inspiration comes from Soul Scrappers challenge, LIFT23.  This is the LO we needed to lift:

Here is what I made:

I love the banners, the flower clusters although I used some circles and the layers.

Making IceCream

Hello my scrappy friends!

Another day off from school due to snow and ice!  I'm not complaining...we all needed it here at home.  Everyone is sick but me so you know what that means....I'm able to clean, cook, shovel, do dishes and sever everyone all by myself.  I don't mean to complain but I'm getting tired since this has been going on all week!  Good thing the couch in the basement is comfy for me to sleep on!  But, I think there is hope...I'm hearing more talking and laughing as I post.  Perhaps health is on it's way!

I did get to scrap a layout yesterday for a few challenges. My daughter is making ice cream while at my sister's house a few years ago for the 4th of July.   I used CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge for the circle mat in the background and CTMH letter stamps for the title.

I'm entering my layout in...
> Soul Scrappers STP1 challenge, Stirring the Pot where something is being made!  Some yummy ice cream!
> A new challenge blog from The Royal Castle Shoppe challenge using stamped words...hope my letters making words count for this challenge!
> Red Carpet Studios using a distressing technique.  I used spray ink and an edge distressor on the the photo mat.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting...time to make another LO before someone needs me!

Explore-Discover-Imagaine

Hello my scrappy friends!  I'm determined to make this month the month of my scrapping!  So far so good...of course it's only the 2nd of the month!  I have posted here on my blog in the past few days and it feels good and is a good start!

Today, I just finished a layout for a Soul Scrappers layout challenge. It ends in 13 minutes...nothing like just making it!  I also am going to enter this layout into the Scrap Our Stash challenge for the beginning of this month, the stash challenge #24 using the word STENCIL.  On my layout I used S-stencil; T-twine, tag; E-edging; N-Novmber die cut title; C-circle, compass; I-inks; L-letters.  I'm also entering this into Bitten by the Bug2 challenge site for using a Cricut cartridge that you have't used in at least 6 months.  I used my Camp Out and Country Life carts which haven't been used in more then 6 months!

Thanks for stopping by ~ have a fabulous evening!

A Little Note

Hello my scrappy friends!

I misplaced a gift card that was meant for my grandmother for Christmas.  Well, I've found it!  So, in order to mail it to her, I made a card.  Better late then never, right?!?

I grabbed my inspiration from STAMPlorations blog challenge...its new this year, called CASEplorations.  During certain weeks, you get to choose one, or more, posted cards you'd like to "copy" or "lift".  You have a few more days, till the 5th, to enter your submission for this challenge.  I chose this card made by Corneila since I loved the colors!  I was also inspired by Kamlia's card by slanting the rainbow ink colors.

My lift incorporated the colors and three word sentiment.   I used STAMPlorations leaf print stencil for my background using a rainbow of colors.

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Stamps and Heart - STAMPlorations

Hello my friends!  I never posted this card I made for my daughter for St. Valentine's Day this year.  I'm entering it into the STAMPlorations blog February challenge: Stamps and Hearts.  Although I didn't use STAMPlorations stamps, I'm so happy I can still enter into the challenge!  The doily stamps are from Martha Stewart.  The sentiment I bought from Michael's or AC Moore years ago!  The heart is from CTMH called Stitched Together.

Thanks for stopping by...time for cuddles and TV with the family!

Seize the daisies with STAMPlorations

Hello my scrappy friends!  Today I made a card for a friend's daughter who didn't get into the school where she applied.  I'm sure most of us are familiar with the feeling of working so hard but still can't reach our goal.  She does have another year to try again so I wanted to let her know that things happen for a reason and perhaps next year will be her year!

I used the sketch from STAMPlorations blog, bi-weekly sketch challenge #28.  The challenge ends tonight but if you can make a quick card, you can enter!

The sketch:

My card:

I used Cricut cartridge Walk in my Garden for the flower and Pink by Design stamped sentiment from Life's a Garden.

Thanks for stopping by....now it's time to cuddle with my not-feeling-so-well daughter.

It's been a while!!

Well hello my scrappy friends! It's been a while since I've posted  which means its been a while since I've created something.  I've been working a full time job in the middle school since the beginning of January filling in for someone who had some pretty intense surgery.  My last day is tomorrow.  Not sure how I feel about leaving and going back to my "real" job as a lunch aide...less hours, less money, but I get to scrap more often and play with first and second graders on the play ground once again!  I just hope the weather warms up soon :)

I had a bit of time this morning to make a card for my kid's librarian at school  She has been out since almost the beginning of October with a cancer diagnosis.  My kids want her to know that they have been thinking of and praying for her.

I grabbed my sketch from STAMPlorations Blog bi-weekly sketch challenge #27 and the colors are from Red Carpet Studio challenge #90 using black, white and your choice.  I choose red for the third color on my card.

Here is my card using scraps of paper from my stash and STAMPlorations stamp set Typografia for my sentiment.  The border stamps in white...I forget who made them!

Thanks for stopping by!
With blessings~

Mom's birthday card

A quick post for my mom's birthday card.  Her birthday is next week and I wanted to make sure she gets it early this year!  I'll be very busy all of next week so no time like the present to make it!

I used a sketch from Cardabilities Sketch #114.  My card isn't nearly as fancy as what the DT has posted or what has been entered into the challenge, but I still like it.  If I had a little more quiet in the house I may have done it a little differently, but it's done and she'll like it!  I'll do better for mother's day :)

Here is the sketch:

Here is my card:

I've also entered my card into the challenge that STAMPlorations Blog is hosting right now!  Each month they have a theme for entries and this month it's Stamps & Inks.  Who doesn't love stamps and inks?!?  I used my brand new  Trendy Leaves clear stamps from STAMPlorations.  They have other challenges new this year, this month, with lots of ways to win their stamps and stencils!  You should definitely check them out!

Happy Stamping and Inking~

Happy New Year - Surfing layout

Happy New Year!  I took some time today to create a summer LO although it's really not warming me up too much!  But it brings great memories to mind :)

The sketch I used is from Sketch~N~Scrap #72 new challenge that started yesterday, January 1st.

My LO using this sketch, changed and twisted a bit!  Even though its a one page sketch, I loved it and stretched it into a two page LO!

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you lots of love, health and happiness in 2015~
